Its been a while, but today is a truly spectacular day.  No the sun is not shinning.  It's pouring rain.  The kind where you put on a comfortable pair of sweats, and hunker down for the day.  We haven't seen a day like this in  several years.  I love it.

We had a wonderful time in Utah last week for Halis baptism.  We had an eventful dinner at the Mayan.  We had two different shows.  One was the cliff divers and the other was a waitress who was having a not very good day.  She even dropped a full glass of water over the railing four stories down.  Luckly she didn't hit anyone.  She did earn us a 25% discount on dinner.

grandchildren

I don't post often, so I hope you all are checking occasionally.  I have the best grandchildren in the world.

First off a big special birthday hug to Regan on her 11th today.  Regan, you are super special to both Grandma and Grandpa and hope you are having a wonderful day.

Secondly, thank you Jacob for making my day.  I miss you more than you will ever know and thank you so much for the wonderful letter  I received today.  You really brightened my day.

I am truly the luckiest Grandma in the world.

A time of fixing broken things

I,m so pathetic at this.  Every time I read all your blogs you have pictures and you are always changing the scenery.  Maybe someday.

Well this has been the month of fixing broken things.  First the upstairs air conditioner(major expense), next the broken awnings, not as bad as expected.  We then had to sweet talk the Coto association into clearing all the dead brush from our side yard because our insurance was canceling us( which they did anyway).  We then had to have the alarm system hooked up which we did not want to do but it seems to get new insurance it was necessary and then I decided it was time to address my numb feet, especially since they were really bothering me and making it hard for me to sleep.  After a trip to the neurologist it was determined I have restless leg.  Thank heaven for some magic little blue pills problem solved. Now if I could fix the rest of me.

Home

Well we are back.  Usually when you return from a big trip you come back with more than you left with, or at least a suitcase full of laundry that needs to be done.  Not us.  We came back with the clothes on our backs and a few items in what we carried on the plane.  Our first flight was late and so we missed all our other flights and in the mess our luggage was lost.  We even had to spend a night in New york because they couldn't get us on another flight until the following day.

Poor Jaimee, no souvineers and no clothes.  We had to buy her a few things yesterday to tide her over until she goes home tomorrow.  Hopefully our bags will show up soon.

Other than that we had a fabulous time.  Italy is incredible  and Disney sure knows how to treat their guests.  When I figure out how to post pictures I will

Snake alert

April and I had our first snake sighting this morning.  In all the years we have been walking and all the miles we have logged this is the first time we have run  into a rattle snake.

I spotted it sunning and thankfully asleep in a drainage ditch as we walked.  We weren't sure if it was alive, but when we came back it was moving off into the bushes.  Needless to say we ran rather quickly by and were even more watchful the rest of the way home.

Today I am doing laundry and getting ready for our big adventure  in Italy.  Future blog and hopefully picture to follow.

Pants or lack thereof

Just a short note to all my children.  Sorry, but you should be very worried.  Someone will shortly have to take care of us.  Today Dad left on a business trip to Germany.  I watched him pack this morning and go through his list.  he had a 4 hour layover in Chicago and called me from the airport laughing .   Seems he packed everything but his pants.  Oh well I guess he is going to get some new pants when he gets there.  At least he a couple of hours before his dinner appointment.

Rats

Wow two days in a row.   Dad had a freaky thing happen to him this morning.  He was using the truck to return a wheelbarrow and was leaving Coto.  He stopped at the light and three large rats jumped from the truck and ran across the street.  It freaked not only him but the women in the car next to him who started to scream.  Did I mention that we were having a rodent problem at our house, and yes we have called a pest control company who have been here and set a lot of traps.  I guess thats what you get for living in a wilderness area.

A day for blood

Today was my day for the doctor.  I'm way late for a lot of my check-up tests. Of course I got a nurse in training and now I have great black and blue marks on my arms from her trying to get my blood.  No wonder I don't go very often.  I go back in two weeks for the results.

We saw Indiana Jones this weekend and while it wasn't great it was like putting on a comfortable  pair of old shoes.  I still think he's a pretty sexy old man, Oh wait I'm old too.

Happy Birthday Little Jordan.  As I watched the end of the Lakers game today I remember going to Utah with Glenn to meet you for the first time while he went to the Jazz, Laker game.  Wow 10 years ago.   And yes Kadi it's your birthday in just four days.

Grammas Life

Lets see if I remember how to do this.

My two favorite shows have finished for the season and I think the right people won.  Loved Khristy from Dancing with the Stars from the first show.  Loved both Davids on Idol.  Would have loved either one to win.  Maybe Davis C's age played in his favor.

To my two sons, Mutt and Jeff, you two in a back room, alone with a computer, equals mischief.  Maybe you two have too much time on your hands.

To my dear grandchildren, I'm sorry but I don't get the Jonas Brothers.

Max, Welcome to the teens.  You are special.
